This site is a test of a new concept - A site totally dedicated to the 911 Professionals of Tennessee.
The idea here is that this site will be constantly under construction, changing to meet the needs of the 911 workers in Tennessee. As new issues arise, or new areas are identified, we hope to modify to meet the majority of members' needs. Consider this to be your site, tailored to meet your needs.
Please take the time to take a look around and see what you think of it. Some of the initial things we want to offer include:
- A forum where Directors, Board Members, or Dispatchers can participate in open discussion relating to our chosen careers.
- A chat board where members can participate in on-line discussions in real time, or communicate pertinent information to others on-line (like storm damage or weather passing through to others in the path of the storm).
- Legislative updates. Timely, pertinent info on what's happening on "The Hill" that affects our jobs or the way we do our business.
- ECB issues. What's going on? What new mandates are coming down the pike? Hopefully we'll get the word directly from members of the ECB.
- NENA, APCO, and TENA issues. Hopefully we can get some representatives to submit timely updates for happenings in our professional organizations.
- Training - Where are the training events going on? What are the new standards? Where can we go to get the current ENP training manuals and testing? Hopefully we can answer all these questions here.
- Meetings, Conferences, Workshops - Where are they, who should attend, What are they representing?
- RFP's. Bidding a new project? Looking to get the most mileage from your RFP? Looking for an RFP to use as an example for your own?
- Finally, we want to include local weather and storm reports (something we all need). We hope to have a site up where you can go to get local doppler radar, satellite imagery, and even timely watch and warning information.
Future Plans include:
- An open FTP server where 911 folks can share files such as GIS shape files, schedules, policies, procedures, or images.
- Regional participation, where local representatives can post information for 911, Homeland Security, or other events in their regions.
- Hosted web pages. Where any district can post their web page on our server, and have a format to give out their pertinent information on the web.
- Job Openings and Positions Wanted Section. One point to advertise your positions available, and get National coverage for possible applicants. Or for those looking for a position, one point where you can post your stuff and be viewed by all the prospecitve 911 Districts in the State.
